Casa Martelli a truly captivating treasure chest still containing important artworks, but scarcely known. Palazzo Martelli reveals to visitors the landscape rooms on the ground floor, the elegant staircase, the magnificent picture gallery with paintings by Beccafumi, Salvator Rosa and Luca Giordano, and the rooms of the noble floor, the yellow and red parlors, the chapel, the ballroom. It belonged for centuries to the Martelli noble family, bankers and patrons, long-term allies of the Medici. When the last Martelli, Francesca, passed away in 1986, it was inherited by the Florentine Church administration, and later on became the property of the Italian State: an authentic and unreconstructed house-museum, resulting from centuries of layers of everyday life of one of the oldest Florentine families.
